NEW YORK VEHICLE CLAIM GUIDE
Start with the right evidence.
Questions about a valuation, repaired vehicle, incomplete estimate, commercial downtime or recovery? These are the first documents worth organizing.
COMMON STARTING POINTS
Match the question to the record.
Is the total-loss offer accurate?
Compare the report’s vehicle profile, mileage, options, condition and comparable vehicles with your actual vehicle and the relevant market.
Total-loss review →Did repairs change the vehicle’s market value?
Keep loss-date mileage, the final repair invoice, supplements and photos. The value impact, if any, depends on the particular vehicle and repair history.
Diminished-value review →Was damage or time overlooked?
For repairs, preserve teardown photos and estimate revisions. For business vehicles, record actual downtime, operating activity and substitute transportation.
